Why Formation?

I get it. Healthcare can be really frustrating. Who can I go and see? What’s right for me? How do I know what’s a good fit? (hint: you always have the choice of who you can see for your healthcare, not just who your doctor tells you to go to).

I’ve gone to clinics where I’ve felt like I’m just a number. Being seen by a burnt-out physical therapist who is running around between me and 3 other people and I’m stuck with questions on if I’m moving the correct way but never able to have their attention to get my question answered. Then later I’m stuck with a bill around $250 per visit that my insurance didn’t cover because I hadn’t met my deductible yet, even though I was under the assumption I would just have to pay my copay.

Been in a similar situation? We can do better.

That’s why I started Formation. To be the best, most inclusive & thorough physical therapy space in RVA.

You deserve to have individualized attention throughout your visit. That’s the only option at Formation. Each session is one-on-one, with my attention on you and you alone.

You deserve an in-depth plan tailored to you and your needs. At Formation I block off ample time to get to know you and look at your whole body to get to the root cause of why you are in pain. We talk about not only movement, but sleep, stress, nutrition, and hydration. All factors are big in recovery and shouldn’t be ignored.

I learn what matters to you so we can work together to get you where you want to be; like hitting a new PR on a back squat or running a half marathon; not just limited to activities of daily living (which is when your insurance stops covering PT).

You matter and you will always be treated with respect. Formation will always support the LGBTQIA+ community and are disappointed in the barriers to healthcare that the community goes through. We’re one of the few companies that have a medical record system that includes pronouns and preferred name. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself at Formation. Partnering with Body Arc, RVA’s first queer-owned inclusive gym, is a perfect fit.
