The #1 Way to Avoid Injuries

Injuries suck. It happens to everyone. You’re pumped to go for a new PR, only to find yourself sidelined for weeks. But why did it happen in the first place?

The number one reason I’ve seen for injuries is too quick of a jump in activity. There’s a few ways this can happen.

  • Did you have less time than usual to warm up before hitting a heavy set?

  • Attempted a big jump in weights and your form broke down?

  • Went from training 1-2 times a week to 5+ days a week?

  • Increased your run distance from 1 mile one session to 5 miles the next session?

All of these have the same thing in common: a significant jump in intensity without your body being primed for it. Even if you’re used to a heavy training load, but you take a couple weeks off to travel, you need to ease yourself back in. Our bodies get used to de-training really fast. So next time you’re thinking of jumping back in after taking time off, remember to ease back in instead.
