What You Do Now Decides What 70 Looks like.

If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t want to strength train now, I’ll worry about it later”, this is for you.

Here’s the part that most people don’t realize

Imagine waking up at 70 years old. You wouldn’t lose all your strength overnight. It happens slowly, for decades, quietly enough where you don’t notice…until you’re not able to get up from the floor or carry groceries.

The rule I give my clients

Want to be able to hike in 30 years? Walk a few miles? Play with your grandkids? Make sure you can do much more now than what you want to do then. The work you put in today sets up up for the most success down the line.

Research generally shows that adults lose muscle and strength gradually with age (specifically women…hello menopause!), and that loss tends to spend up later in life, especially without strength training. Comfortable today is not the same as strong later.

so what should you actually be doing now?

  • Train your grip and carry: Farmer carries build the strength that keeps you independent, carrying your own bags and your own life.

  • Don’t skip hips and back: A hinge, like a deadlift, teaches your body to lift safely for decades.

  • Add balance work now: Single-leg exercises build the stability that prevents falls later, and it’s easier to build at 40 than rebuild at 75.

the bottom line

Comfortable with your current strength? Now is a great time to keep building, not just maintain.

Already noticing things getting harder? That’s worth addressing directly.
